The Annular Modes: Intrinsic Dynamics and the Roles of External Forcing

  摘要:环状模(也称北极涛动/南极涛动)是半球尺度上大气低频变化的最主要模态,对中高纬度的天气和气候有着广泛而显著的影响。环状模也是全球变暖背景下,中高纬大气响应全球变暖的主要模态。本报告将介绍研究组近年在环状模动力机制研究中的进展。在揭示环状模中大气内动力过程的基础上,介绍中纬度海气耦合、以及全球变暖背景下的北极增暖、热带加热等外部强迫引起环状模变化的动力机制,揭示环状模变化与波破碎等高影响、强非线性天气事件的可能关系。报告最后将讨论以上环状模变化机理的揭示对理解、模拟和预测中高纬度气候变率的实际意义。
